The meaning of "poor baby"...

is Presley over the last two months.  Her poor little body has had a rough go.

Since the beginning of 2011 Presley has had RSV, two colds, the stomach flu, and a bladder infection.  The latter two were during the month of March.  She had a terrible fever that came and went for a few days last week.  I finally took her to the doctor on Friday afternoon when she was clearly not well.  We got there and her fever was over 104 degrees.  They ruled out everything except for internal infection.  After some testing that was uncomfortable for Presley... and semi-traumatic for me... they determined she had a bladder infection.  She has been on antibiotics ever since.  Her fever was completely gone on Monday and we had our little girl back.  I'm sincerely and hopefully praying that we will all stay well now.

At Presley's 9 month appt yesterday, the pediatrician told us that Presley needs to go to Children's Hospital for further testing on her bladder and kidneys.  He is also recommending that we see a pulmonologist for her chronic cough and asthma issues.  Finally, he took blood yesterday to determine whether or not she has Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency.  This is a genetic disorder that runs in our family and it affects a person's liver and lungs.  We are a little overwhelmed with all there is to consider.  However, our pediatrician is optimistic that these are things that can be overcome.  We are just trying our best to trust God and take things one day at a time.

In spite of these health issues, Presley is growing and changing and cracking us up each day.  I will be writing her "9 Month" post soon and I can share some recent pictures and more fun things that have been going on.
